A few days ago (before President Trump was shot on 7/13/2024), I was praying for our country. I have a son in the military. I’m watching what’s going on in the world and in our country. I’m worried and concerned. As I was praying, the verse from 2 Chronicles popped in my head- “if Mypeople who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 NJKV
I prayed, “Lord, that will never happen. We will never get the ENTIRE country to humble themselves and repent. This will never happen. This is hopeless. Our country’s fate is sealed.”
And I felt like the Lord was saying, “This needs to be a personal change.” Wow! What-a-revelation. Look at what the verse says, “if MY people…” Not the unsaved.
Not the people who don’t believe in Jesus or disregard Jesus or don’t submit to Jesus.
“MY people.”
So, I’m asking God what areas I need to humble myself in. What areas do I need to seek His face (and not just do my own thing)? What wicked ways do I need to get rid of?
These are scary things to pray (I’m a little afraid of the answers), but I know God is faithful, and He always keeps His promises. I want our land to be healed. I want our
country to prosper. I’m willing to do the hard work to help this great nation.
