When your children have special needs – be that autism, ADHD, auditory processing disorder or a learning disability – managing their education can feel like a full-time job. Even the most loving, most gifted teachers can struggle with special needs children. I have had my children in both public and private school. I have experience with IEP plans and 504s. Let’s talk about options for your child and what might be the best fit for them. 

Adoption is a beautiful gift to both the parents and the child. But, it isn’t always easy. Whether you are doing a private adoption or adopting out of foster care, the paperwork alone can be daunting. Then there are the cultural differences to think about. If you are doing a private adoption, the expenses can be staggering. (Also one of the reasons I do budget consulting – I’ve been there.)

 

Two of my children are adopted, and they both have special needs. I have navigated very difficult healthcare situations. I wish that someone had sat me down and pointed me in the right direction when I was looking at my boys and saying to myself, “Hm. Something doesn’t seem right.” I would love to share my experience – both what I did right and what I did wrong – so that your child can get the help they need as quickly as possible.

Some people prefer that I meet with them a few times until they feel comfortable and confident that they have the swing of things.
